Ainsdale Discovery Centre is the base for Sefton Coast & Countryside Ranger Service which o co-ordinates a wide range of education activities for children from age 4 through to A level students. Many different interesting habitats are available for fieldwork along the Sefton Coast including beaches, sand dunes, woodlands, ponds, meadows, highly visited areas and quiet less-disturbed land. The wide sandy beaches can be used to discover the myriad of life in our seas, while the dunes provide older students with examples of a changing sand dune system. Inland urban sites have their own special features.
The geography and science curriculum will lead students to discover the many special features that make the Sefton Coast so valuable in terms of nature conservation and recreational usage.
Activities may be general or developed for the curriculum from KS1 through to Further Education and can include Environmental Games, Strand-line Activities, Senses Games, Pond Dipping, Minibeast Hunts, Woodland Hunts, Habitat Studies, River Alt Studies, Recreation & Management and Sand Dune Management.
